Meet the high demand for exceptional teachers by earning your inclusive education master’s online at Daemen. As a graduate student in our supportive and flexible education master’s program, you will learn how to create lesson plans aligned to New York State’s Next Generation and Common Core learning standards, as well as understand the laws that protect students.

We offer 30% off the graduate per-credit-hour tuition rate to accepted inclusive education master’s students who have earned an undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 or above.

Flexible
Format

Our fully online program includes a combination of online meetings one evening per week and weekly learning modules that can be completed at your own pace. In-person field experiences will be at sites within driving distance of your home.

Learn Through Video Analysis

You’ll use the video analysis tool, Vosaic, to reflect, gather feedback, and evaluate your teaching performance. When you enter the field, you’ll record yourself teaching. Studying these recordings will guide debrief sessions with your supervisors to help identify areas for growth and improvement.

Graduate Education Degree

Initial/professional (39–45 credits, 18 months): This pathway is for those looking to become a teacher. Graduates gain both initial and professional certification in childhood education grades 1–6 and students with disabilities PK–12. Students complete 150 hours of field experience and two separate seven-week, full-time student teaching placements.

Professional (30 credits, 12 months): This pathway is for those who already hold initial certification in childhood education/students with disabilities. Graduates gain both initial and professional certification in childhood education grades 1–6 and students with disabilities PK–12. Courses focus on critical issues and intensive intervention. Students complete a capstone project in inclusive education.

Additional certification (30 credits, 12 months): This pathway is for those who already hold a NYS initial teaching certification in a different area. Graduates gain both initial and professional certification in childhood education grades 1–6 and students with disabilities PK–12. Students complete 100 hours of field experience and abbreviated student teaching that can take place during the summer.

Course topics for all three programs include instructional and assistive technology, critical perspectives, equity and social justice in educational law, and more.

When you’re ready to submit your application, here’s what you’ll need to provide:

  • Completed application form
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended indicating the award of an undergraduate degree
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from an academic source and the other from a volunteer experience, internship, or employer
  • Resume
  • Applicants to professional or additional certification programs should provide proof of initial certification from the New York State Education Department
  • Personal statement (up to 300 words) discussing your background and why you want to enroll in the specific graduate program
  • No GRE required
